Spotlight On: Mode Cosmetics #10600 Boysenberry

Boysenberry is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a Fandango purple according to Wikipedia! It has a gorgeous metallic shimmer finish. This shade might need a drop of thinner, as it dried super quick, causing it to go on a little too thick which in turn created some bubbling. Otherwise it has fantastic pigmentation, and two coats is plenty. Another of my favorites, you can't go past this gorgeous shade!

Spotlight On: Mode Cosmetics #10537 Say Cheese

Say Cheese is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a fantastic Tangerine yellow creme! A little tricky to apply, I found that I needed 4 (!?) coats to get rid of the streaky appearance, but the effort was sooooooo worth it! I love the boldness of this shade!

Nail art: I used Color Club's Art Club Nail Art Lacquer to create this look. First layer is NA10 Lite Pink (also referred to as 05C010) and the second layer is NA18 Crystal Glitter (also referred to as 05C018.) Allow nail enamel to dry before applying stripper polish. Starting in the bottom corner, sweep first lacquer shade "diagonally" across nail, then follow with two further strokes on either side of the first. When dry, apply the second lacquer shade in the same fashion, taking care not to completely cover the first layer. I find this style works best when the second layer is a glitter, or a lighter shade than the first. Repeat this technique on the opposite corner. Be careful not to apply the top coat too early otherwise you will end up with what I have done here - unsightly streaks! Oops!

No Curfew is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a bright Tangelo orange creme that demands attention! A fantastic colour with rich pigmentation that is pretty easy to apply, though you do need to be a little careful of not putting each coat on too thick or you might get some running. Two coats should be enough, though I put on a third coat for good measure. If you like loud - then this is one for you!

Tree Hugger is a recently discontinued Mode Cosmetics shade and is a sap green creme. It reminds me of rain-forests and green tree frogs! Very easy to apply and another two-coater! If you like colours with a difference you can't go past this one!

Trend Setter is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and I found it to be a fascinatingly difficult shade to define! It is a duo-chrome that changes from khaki to gold, depending on the angle at which it is viewed. I was not particularly taken with the colour when looking at the bottle, but I must say that when it was on my hands I had a hard time tearing my eyes away from it! Very easy to work with, and two shades were plenty. This one is worth giving a go for sure!

Style Magnet is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a stunning shade of sapphire with a shimmer to the base that creates the appearance of a metallic polish. Excellent pigmentation, almost a one-coater, but I applied two for good measure. A breeze to work with, I promise you won't be disappointed in this one! Definitely one of my top 10!

Spotlight On: Mode Cosmetics #10530 Fame Finder

Fame Finder is a discontinued shade of the Mode Cosmetics collection, so if you like what you see and happen to find one - be sure to snap it up! Of the 20 discontinued shades, this one was nearly impossible to find. I found only one stockists that had it, and they happened to have 4 left, so I grabbed them all so that I could offer a few to my readers! Please excuse the strange shadows and blotches in the photos, this shade did some weird things to my camera! A neon pink jelly that has great depth in colour! However, it is difficult to work with, as it is a little on the runny side. I found that working with one finger at a time I was able to apply it evenly, giving each nail enough time to set a little before moving on to the next nail so that it didn't run and gather on the edges. If you have the time and patience to work with this colour, then the results are rewarding! I got quite a few compliments for this one!

Funkadelic is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is an awesome magenta with a shimmer to the base that creates the appearance of a metallic polish. Very easy to apply, and two coats ample. This gorgeous shade gets many compliments, and is certainly in my top 10 from Mode!

Midas Touch is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a burnt gold with a hint of bronze. It has a gorgeous golden shimmer when the sunlight hits it. Very easy to apply, and two coats is plenty for rich and opaque colour! I am generally not a huge fan of gold tones, but this one is really rather pretty!

Love Me is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a neon pink. Please excuse the strange shadows in the photos, this shade did some weird things to my camera! Unlike Hot Stuff, this shade is completely opaque, and two coats were plenty. It was tricky to work with, quite thick and streaky, but a drop of thinner should help the problem. My top coat smoothed it out considerably too. Another shade that makes you want to shield your eyes - but you just can't quite look away...

Rave'n is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a neon orange. The name of this shade is so fitting, as it reminds me of glow sticks! Very easy to apply, and two coats was plenty. It's ever so slightly sheer, but only so far as to see a slight line where the nail tip begins. It dries a little on the matte side, so it looks tonnes better with a top-coat. This shade can't help but draw attention to itself, being so bright you need sunglasses! This shade has to be one of my absolute favorites! I am totally in love with it's OMG factor!

Whatev is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a neon green. It reminds me of Kermit the Frog! I applied four coats (!?) to try to get some opacity, but I tried in vain! This shade is sheer, and shows off the tips of your nails. Please excuse my messy edges ladies! I have a useless lounge room light, and didn't realise I had gone out of the lines until my photos were already loaded onto the computer! Easy to apply, and a very very bold colour! Not for the faint hearted!

Spotlight On: Mode Cosmetics #10521 Hook Me Up

Hook Me Up is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a creme cornflower blue, closer to the pictures without the bottle in them. Did you ever sit in class as a kid and paint your nails with white-out aka correction pen? That is what this nail polish reminded me of. I have to be honest here - this shade was an absolute b*#%@ to work with! It was gluggy, streaky and difficult to apply. I applied two coats, and my top coat did smooth it out somewhat. However even considering how nasty it was to apply, a drop or two of thinner and some patience gets you an absolutely FABULOUS colour, that is very loud and unique. I can't help but love it despite its flaws!

Nail art: I used Color Club's Art Club Nail Art Lacquer to create this look. Allow nail enamel to dry before applying stripper polish. Starting in one corner, paint a diagonal line across the tip of the nail first, and then colour-in to the corner with NA1 (also referred to as 05C001) White. Once that has dried, paint about two thirds of the white corner with NA18 (also referred to as 05C018) Crystal Glitter. Pretty easy!

Celebutante is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a classic shade of Venetian red with a creme finish. It is deeper than the images portray. A breeze to apply, two coats produce a fantastic, rich pigmentation and smooth finish. Well and truly worth giving it a go!

Hot Stuff is part of the current Mode Cosmetics collection and is a neon pink. I feel like I have taken to my nails with a hi-lighter! This polish is bound to get a lot of attention! Very easy to apply, two coats was plenty. It is a teeny tiny bit sheer - but not too much that you see your nails underneath, only a faint line where the tip begins. It dries with a slight shine, but I think it looks heaps better with a top coat. If you like attention-seeking colours - then you can't go past this baby!
